Main Street USA Ice Cream Break and Parade

It was Wednesday and we had just finished at Mickey’s Toontown. We were walking through Fantasyland near Tomorrowland, on our way to Main Street USA. Passing by the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, we didn’t feel like getting in line to see it again, but it did look inviting.

We needed a midday break! Carol took Michael to First Aid to see about the blisters on his feet while I rested my feet nearby on a bench. Then an unexpected visitor stopped by!

When the three of us met up again, TweedleDee (or was it his Dum brother?) had left, so I showed Michael and Carol the picture I took of him.

As we walked down Main Street USA, we saw people were claiming their spots for the afternoon parade.

As usual, the shady side of the street fills up first.

carnationcafeWe all were still feeling kind of tired, so Carol suggested an ice cream treat at the Carnation Cafe. What a great idea!

As it turned out, we were even able to get a table in our favorite spot there, in the alcove right next to an electric plug! So, we ordered a bana split to split between the three of us, drinks to quench our thirst, and let our iPhones have a “drink” of electricity while we were there.

When our ice cream treat arrived, we gobbled it up, enjoying the taste and the sugar rush.

That gave us a nice pick up and we felt better. Refreshed, we enjoyed the view while waiting to pay the bill.

We love the Carnation Cafe! Next we headed to the Emporium to do a bit of shopping, and just then the parade came by.

After the marching band finished, more of the parade came by. What to do? Watch the parade or shop? Michael continued watching the parade while Carol and I shopped. When I was finished, I joined Michael at the sidewalk, watching the parade, then Carol joined us when she was done.

The Emporium at DIsneyland is unique with its second-story scenes of times gone by.
