Disney Mobile Reservations Site Offers “Near Me” Feature on iPhone, Blackberry & Android

The Disney Parks Blog announces that you can now check for table-service availability at nearby restaurants using the location-based services on your iPhone and supported Android, Blackberry device. And yes, it’s available now.

(There still is no app for iPhone, but the mobile version of the website supports searching for available restaurants using the “Near Me” feature: just make sure your iPhone has Location Services turned on for Safari in Settings – General – Location Services.)

Simply search “disneyworld.com/dining” from your supported browser, or visit disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/m/ and choose to view “map view” of dining results.

Disney’s “Let the memories begin” promotional campaign

King of CartoonsDisney’s latest ad campaign is ripping off Pee-Wee’s Playhouse where each week the King of Cartoons would say, “Let the cartoon… begin!”

Disney is hoping that “Let the memories begin” will convince you to take a Disney vacation in the next 12 months. Do you think it will work? Frankly, I think they’ve done much better and this is lame.

I’m just sayin’…

At 3:27 into this video you can hear the King of Cartoons start introducing that episode’s animated feature “Let the cartoon….. begin!” YouTube video

Disneyland has a bit of WDW

We were walking along in Disneyland and then we found a bit of WDW:

This looks like a cover to a water meter or water valve under the walkway, but we don’t know for sure. And if the WDW on it stands for Walt Disney World, what is it doing at Disneyland? And why are the WDW letters upside down compared to the other letters on it?

I’m just throwing this out there into cyberspace. I don’t know the answers. But if anyone seeing this knows or has some ideas, please leave a comment!

About the Disney Echo

This website is not affiliated with any part of The Walt Disney Company.

The Disney Echo at DisneyEcho.emuck.com is your interactive online magazine to discover new wonders and share magical Disney memories.

The display on this page is set up to show the posts in reverse chronological order of when they were posted originally, so if you want to read the reports from the beginning, go to the last post on the last page and work forward. The first entry about the Koster family's July 2008 Disneyland trip can be found by clicking here and the first entry about their Easter 2008 Disneyland trip can be found by selecting this link.

That link goes to the very first travel-related article on this website: Welcome to our Trip Report.

The entry made after that first one is found after clicking the link named "Our Vacation Plans At-A-Glance" and that link is found above and below the first entry.

The third entry is similarly found after clicking the link above and below the second one, where the link is named "Packing Up"

One can read all the travel-related entries in the order they were posted by going to the next entry and the next entry the same way. Otherwise, this website defaults to displaying the most-recently-posted entries followed by older entries below it on the page as well as on the pages after it.

For more details, see What's a Disney Echo?
