Report: White iPhone 4 cancelled due to light leak camera problem

White iPhone 4

White Out

Update to an earlier post that Apple’s white iPhone 4 would be delayed until Spring…

Cult of Mac now reports, that the problem is from light leaking into the iPhone and affecting the performance of the device’s camera.

And a new report from Boy Genius Report claims that the model has been canceled entirely instead of merely delayed until next spring as Apple announced yesterday:

According to a previous source of ours, we have been told that Apple in fact has no plans to release the white model iPhone 4. Our source hypothesizes another “delay” communicated around March leading us into an iPhone 5 release time-frame in June / July.

Curiouser and curiouser!

Disneyland PeopleMover, Innoventions replacement, Tomorrowland revamp, Frontierland expansion approved? Here’s why

The Astro Orbiter in its current location, seen here from inside the Plaza Inn restaurant, doesn't blend well with that area's turn-of-the-century theming and also clogs the entrance to Tomorrowland from the Hub (Disneyland's Central Plaza).

The buzz from Disneyland insiders is that the Suits in charge there know they need to increase the number of attractions in order to deal with that park’s crowded conditions.

It’s a great, big, beautiful Tomorrowland!

Because of that, rumor has it that Disney Imagineering projects have been approved to revamp Tomorrowland — including moving the Astro Orbiter out of that land’s crowded Central Plaza walkway and returning them back to the old Rocket Jets location, flying high over the heart of Tomorrowland with, get this, a new PeopleMover below it as well as a replacement for Innoventions in the old Carousel Theater/America Sings building.

I’d love to see all of that happen as well as a new attraction in that interesting building (hopefully utilizing its unique rotating ring section). It is way past time to evict the Elias family out of their Innoventions Dream Home on 360 Tomorrowland Way. They can continue celebrating their son’s “amazing” soccer goal elsewhere… or move with your lives on as you move out, Elias family. You’ve been hosting a party celebrating Robbie’s soccer goal since 1998. Is he even still living at home after all that time?

Add to the expansion project mix that Disneyland Resort president George Kalogridis at D23′s Destination D mini-expo admitted they “hear us” about bringing the PeopleMover back, so plans have been created to make that possible. He went on to explain what Disney has to do to make the attraction comply with today’s safety standards (adding a walkway alongside the track with railings and emergency exit staircases, etc.). Changes made to the park’s Alice in Wonderland attraction immediately come to mind.

The PeopleMover was a very high-capacity, short line, efficient attraction that in and of itself would help to alleviate Disneyland’s Guest overcrowding problem. Plus, they could bring back the TRON SuperSpeed Tunnel section to the PeopleMover — synergy with TRON Legacy! Having the 3,000 Guest per hour capacity of the PeopleMover back will be a great start to lessen Disneyland’s overcrowding.

Frontierland Expansion

But that’s not all. Word is that Frontierland will be expanded with at least one new attraction, an E-Ticket (i.e., a super attraction).

Before Frontierland can be expanded, though, room needs to be created for that behind the berm. That’s why Disney is looking into where offsite — but nearby — they can move the backstage Circle D Ranch horse stables (then uses trailers to transport the park’s horses to/from the park) to open up room behind the Festival Arena to expand Frontierland with a new E-Ticket attraction which might be themed to Johnny Depp’s upcoming “Lone Ranger” movie.

Good! Big Thunder Ranch can certainly use something more exciting than a log cabin and a petting zoo. Big Thunder Trail can be much more than a backdoor path to Fantasyland behind Big Tbunder Mountain.

I hope all of these rumored changes are officially announced soon and come to pass. With these additions to Disneyland — along with the improvements at Disney California Adventure — my opinion is that the Disneyland Resort will be better than ever. Reply with your thoughts about this!

Apple confirms white iPhone 4 not available “until this Spring”

Apple is delaying the introduction of its white iPhone 4 until Spring 2011. Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller confirmed this information to Reuters and apologized: “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again.” Muller declined to comment when asked about the reasons for this delay.

This morning rumors of the white iPhone were stirred up again when the handset made a brief appearance on Apple’s web-based storefront and iPhone app. The white iPhone 4 appeared next to the black version as part of the reservation ordering system but was not available when one tried to place an order. This appearance was changed later in the day.

Adventurers Club demolition permits filed

So this really is the end.

“Permits filed for demolition of the Adventurers Club.” -Tweet by @CaptMichael87

We climb the highest mountains,
just to get a better view.
We plumb the deepest oceans,
because we’re daring through and through.
We cross the scorching desert,
martinis in our hand.
We ski the polar ice caps,
in tuxedos looking grand.
We are reckless, brave, and loyal,
and valiant to the end.
If you come in here a stranger,
you will exit as a friend.

Here are the permits. Read ‘em and weep… :-(

…and valiant to the end.

KUNGALOOSH!

Mickey V Oswald, Chapter 1

Note: This story is set in a fictional version of Walt Disney World Resort, and all referenced material is used in like fashion.  The Walt Disney Company has not authorized or endorsed this story.

Chapter 1

“Thank you for letting me have a copy of Johnny’s health records, Amber,” Bob Iger said at a side office as he paged through the manila folder Amber Merichello gave him. “Nothing’s too much out of the ordinary.  Johnny was originally a common field mouse residing on property, in that field Walt found. We later found out that the mice there were descendants of lab escapees.”

Amber nodded. “Yes, sir. My dad traced it to an experiment in UCF in regenerating brain tissue.” (UCF, being University of Central Florida.) “I heard that some of the interns there, as well as some Imagineers, monitor the colony.”

Iger just shrugged. “We just make sure the place isn’t paved over. The College kids just wanted to study on the rate of their biological evolution by descendants…” He picked up a form that showed red cell count in blood. “A-ha, here we are. This is the one I was looking for.”

“That’s the study my mother made when we first found him,” Amber said. “Does that have to do with the secret thing you wanted to talk to me about?”

“The same,” Bob said. “I trust you can keep it a secret.”

Amber nodded. “Johnny might talk of it, but it sounds too fantastic to be believed, shades of that ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’ movie.”

Bob continued. “But he doesn’t go into specifics.”

Amber shook her head. “He was too busy getting outta there.”

Bob chuckled. “Well, the movie reference isn’t too far from the truth.” He handed her a folder of his own. “The device Johnny mentioned is one of Imagineering’s more private efforts. It’s just like the film, it’s designed to expand and reduce the molecules of matter, causing them to shrink and grow. It’s basically made so that we can store and transport objects better, such as stage props or ride floats, or even company records. We have no intentions, emphasis added, to use it on living organisms, which is why Imagineering wanted those records. It’ll be part of the hazard precautions for the device once we really start using it.”

Amber mulled it over. “I agree with you about the no living part. Johnny was a bit touch and go for a bit. If he were much bigger he wouldn’t’ve survived it.”

Bob nodded. “Yes yes, that’s another reason why I want you to keep it a secret. I don’t want any uproars by it leaking.”

Amber just returned the file back to Bob. “Your secret’s safe with me, Mr. Iger. Besides, I’ll have my hands more or less full keeping up with Johnny.”

Bob laughed. “Especially with that Lifetime Pass I got him.” He shrugged. “He might not be from Disney, but he’s from this place, like it or not. I basically gave him the Kermit package. But that’s not what I also want to talk about. It’s about a new character of ours that’s an armful in his own right. Or at least, he’s new to us. He’s actually been around long before his younger and more famous brother…”

“Aaaaaah,” Johnny said as he arched back a bit  He tried sitting in the side room where Amber put him so she could talk with Bobbie, but he was just too restless. “Bored bored bored bored. I hope Iger and Amber get done soon. Rather get chased by security than sit here in this dump.”

His ear twitched to pick up the sounds of a woman CM (Castmember) walking into the room on heels. She had a Barbie-like figure and had a business casual dress with a knee length skirt. She brought with her a large snack tray.

“Oh,” Cheryl said when she looked down, her name on her name-pin. “You must be Amber’s little friend. Johnny, right?”

Johnny just smiled as he looked up. He then blinked and looked around. “Well, I don’t think there’s any other large mice in the room. Must be talking about me.”

Cheryl beamed at him as she set the tray down. “I thought you might want to nibble on something. You might find another guest coming in a bit…”

Johnny sniffed at the cheese tray with bagels and cookies, while Cheryl pulled out four bottles of juice and two milks. “I’ll leave something for him.”

His cute smile proved infectious to Cheryl as she walked out of the room, but she was stopped a bit while she was down the hall. Johnny could hear her talking to someone, but his ears didn’t pick up any details since he was nibbling on a bagel. The other voice sounded like a toon voice, not unlike his own, but he couldn’t quite place the character.

He just shrugged and went back to his chair when he saw another nose poke into the room.

“Oswald the Lucky Rabbit?!” Amber brightened up a bit. “I heard you got him back.”

“And don’t ask me how on earth he’s still alive and frisky after all this time,” Bob said.  “From what I heard, Yensid had a hand in it, and that wizard is more tight lipped than we should be.”

Amber blew up a lock of her Ariel-style hair.  “So, how is Ozzy?”

“Depends on who you ask,” Bob said with a sigh. “When we got him back, I thought we could ease him into the Disney life like another character. But I didn’t count on him being wary of us corporate stiffs. Can’t say I blame him, after how Walt lost the bunny. We also worried about his relationship with Mickey.”

“From what I heard,” Amber said, “He’s got a bit of jealousy going on.”

“A bit?” Bob asked. “Some say Disney should have been the House of Rabbit, Amber. I wouldn’t fault Oswald one iota for his issues. But he seems to take it in stride, nowadays. He knows the truth about what happened in the 20s. He saves his sharp tongue for Universal. And he warmed up to not just Mickey, but the general populace as well. Especially with those who actually remember his classic cartoons.”

“Three cheers for YouTube,” Amber said.

Bob nodded. “Indeed. I can see that Ozzy wants a share of the spotlight, but he has to deal with having to adjust to the modern day. I don’t know where he was between then and now and I don’t think there was much for him to know about the outside world. I’d like to see him meet up with Johnny, maybe make friends, go on some adventures together. Maybe keep him out of trouble.”

Amber had to laugh. “Keeping out of trouble? Bob, Mickey would bail Oswald out of jail.  Johnny Briz would be in the same cell with him. I speak from personal experience.”

Bob couldn’t help but laugh along. “I wouldn’t be surprised.”

Amber sighed. “Well, I suppose I can keep an eye on both of them. By the way, where’s Oswald now?”

“If I hear that commotion behind us right,” Bob said, “he might be meeting Johnny right now.”

Chapter 1 End.

Decision Point: This is where you the reader can influence the story. What do you think should happen next? How would Johnny and Oswald meet each other? And would there be anyone else in the room? Would Mickey be in there as well? And just what, if anything, would Oswald’s issues be? Just because he doesn’t hate Mickey doesn’t mean he’s not a rival, friendly as it is.

Go to chapter two.

Mickey V Oswald, Post #0

The Disney Echo’s prominent bad boy tells a tale that was bound to happen; the story after the video game Epic Mickey

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Walt Disney’s oldest cartoon character and Mickey Mouse’s younger brother. The legal travesty that stole him away from his father almost caused him to suffer a fate every toon fears worse than a pain thinner bath; a slow fading away into the oblivion of obscurity. However, the master wizard Yensid gave the discarded hare a merciful reprieve: he created the Wastelands, a place for those forgotten, and spirited him there to live out his years in peace. About that time, however, Walt Disney had his magical moment where he found his second son.

Mickey Mouse

He would admit to spilling ink on the Wasteland, no lo contendre. Just another line in the list of youthful indiscretions as long as his tail. But he’ll also state that he took care of it. The Blot was vanquished (for the moment!) and the wasteland was restored. But in the process, he found a relative he never thought he had—his older brother, Oswald. He was all too eager to take him to his world and welcome him with open arms.

It took some doing, though. If it weren’t for some corporate sap, all of Walt’s magic would have started with a rabbit, not a mouse. So understandingly, Oswald was jealous over his younger brother. The first night would’ve been a UFC-style brawl if Yensid didn’t step in and set the record straight for Oswald.

The New Disney Brothers

Now that Oswald knew the truth behind what happened that sad day, he knew that his anger over his brother was misplaced — although his jealousy wasn’t. He wanted a piece of the spotlight and Mickey knows it. In fact, his presence in the Magic Kingdom—or for that matter, the entire Walt Disney World resort complex—has garnished him some much desired fame and popularity. As Oswald’s stock does his meteoric rise, the question begs to be asked: Is the Wonderful World of Disney big enough for the both of them?

The answer might come in a third player.

Johnny Briz

Not a Disney character per se, but a local fauna mouse with a fantastic story of his own, and his own desire to spread some happiness. Thanks to an accident in one of Disney’s secret experiments, Johnny finds himself in the human world, a real live toon to provide a little native space in the Disney owned community of Celebration, Florida. The Disney company knows of him, as does Yensid, but they didn’t know what to do with him at first…

…until he finds himself between the Brothers and their fan groups, and plenty of people in the corporation knows how fans can get at times. How far will the two factions of Mousketeers take their debate over their characters of choice, and how can the two Brothers—with a mutual friend—can keep them from tearing the Kingdom apart?

Is Disney World big enough for both Mickey and Oswald? Let’s find out.

About the author:

“As Mousketeers go,” David Foxfire is known for saying, “I am pure evil.” The Oswald to Rich Koster’s Mickey, the storywriter and illustrator is known for pushing the envelope when it comes to Disney Magic, thinking so far out of the proverbial box he’s in other rooms, and not letting accepted conventions, or even overzealous lawyers stop him. Although he’s known for being “The Ed Wood of the Internet,” in some quarters, it doesn’t faze him but in fact spurs him on from improve from that keltchy starting point. He is also known for the Scarlet PI series, a police procedural series set in the amusement parks in Orlando, including Disney World. Johnny Briz is one of his older characters, and his own story, in a picturebook script format, is being written as of this typing. Johnny’s story in Mickey V Oswald takes place after that.

Audience Participation:

The story will begin within the week with a little private chat between Disney CEO Bob Iger and Amber Merichello, Disney fan, budding animator, and Johnny’s handler. In the meantime, Johnny is in another room grabbing a snack. But would would join him, Mickey, Oswald or both?

At the end of every chapter, you the readers will have the chance to voice your opinion on where you want to story to go. David will pretty much pick the first suggestion that comes up and take it from there, but if there are multiple suggestions, he’ll chose the best one.
